Citrine’s nickname, the Merchant’s Stone, comes from the long tradition of tucking it into cash drawers, registers, and wallets to draw money in and keep wealth circulating.
Citrine works best for active prosperity: landing clients, growing businesses, asking for raises and opening new streams of income. It aligns you with Jupiter’s expansive flow rather than handing you a lottery ticket.
What sets it apart from other money stones is its ability to work at the root of scarcity itself. I’ve found citrine particularly effective for dismantling the inner belief that abundance is meant for other people. It softens the inherited fear of “not enough” and slowly rewires the solar plexus into something that expects good things.
Pair it with pyrite for fast money draws or green aventurine for steady, lucky flow.
Confidence and Personal Power
Where carnelian gives you a burst of fire, citrine gives you sustained sunlight.
As the premier solar plexus stone, it rebuilds courage, self-worth, and the kind of grounded confidence that stands on its own. It’s a brilliant ally for public speaking, leadership, difficult conversations, and any magick practice where you need to be magnetic and unshakable in your own skin.
I reach for citrine in the aftermath of difficult seasons, after grief, burnout, or a relationship that diminished me. It has this gentle way of returning you to yourself. Carry a tumbled stone in your pocket and touch it whenever doubt creeps in.
Over time, that small gesture becomes a kind of muscle memory for sovereignty.
Creativity, Manifestation and Banishing Negativity
Citrine bridges the sacral and solar plexus, desire and will.
This makes it one of the strongest manifestation stones in my collection. It clears creative blocks and scatters mental fog while helping move dreams from concept into form. If you’re stuck mid-project or sitting on an idea you can’t seem to start, place a citrine point near your workspace.
It’s almost always my answer to writer’s block.
It’s also one of the rare stones that genuinely transmutes negativity instead of absorbing it. This makes it wonderful for cleansing rooms, shops and altars. I keep a raw cluster near my front door for exactly this reason. It works quietly in the background, protecting against psychic drain and keeping the home’s energy bright (and circulating).
Using Citrine in Spellwork/Rituals
Citrine slots into almost any part of your practice that calls for warmth, expansion or clarity.
Carry it as a pocket stone, wear it over your solar plexus, set it in your wealth corner, place it on top of sigils or written intentions, or use it as the centerpiece of an abundance grid. Cleanse it with sound, moonlight or a brief sunbath. Never leave it in direct sunlight for long, as the color will fade. Charge it on Sundays for general work, Thursdays for prosperity, or at Litha when its power is at its peak.
Sunlit Manifestation Ritual 
Perform on a Sunday at dawn, at Litha, or during a waxing moon.
You will need: one citrine stone, a gold candle 
, a pinch of cinnamon, a bay leaf, paper and a pen.
Process:
- Cast your circle and center yourself with three slow breaths.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon in a small circle around the candle and place the bay leaf beneath the citrine.
- Light the candle and hold the citrine in your cupped hands above the flame, visualizing golden light pouring into the stone until it pulses like a small sun.
- Write your intention on the paper, specific, present-tense, and ethical (of course). Place the citrine on top.
- Speak the chant three times, then sit with the candle until it burns low, or snuff it to relight across three nights.
- Carry the citrine with you afterward and take one aligned action each day toward your goal.

Citrine is patient and generous. It stays stubbornly bright. Treat it well, work with it consistently, and it will return the favor tenfold.
