Peridot is a stone I constantly work with during the brighter half of the year.
It has that vivid, almost lit-from-within yellow-green tone the old Romans called the “Evening Emerald” because it held its color even by lamplight. It’s a gem born of volcanic fire and sometimes of falling stars. You can feel that origin within its magickal properties.
If I had to sum peridot up in a single word, it would be increase.

Abundance That Knows Its Source
Peridot is great for any kind of prosperity working, but I’ve learned over the years that it doesn’t draw money the way pyrite or citrine would do, with that brash, fast pull.
Peridot’s abundance is gentler. It seems to align you with what you’re actually for, then lets the wealth follow from there. I’ve come to trust it most when I’m building something lasting rather than chasing a quick windfall.
Part of why it works so well is that it clears the way first. So much of what blocks our abundance is the quiet conviction that there isn’t enough to go around. Peridot dissolves that lack mentality, and once the channel is clear, the increase comes naturally.
Paired with citrine, it becomes a genuine powerhouse for manifestation.

Where peridot really earns my devotion, though, is in matters of the heart.
It sits on the heart chakra like warm light and goes to work on the things we hold there too tightly: old grudges and jealousy, along with the resentment that curdles a friendship. It’s a wonderful guardian of sleep as well. In my experience, a peridot beneath the pillow has a real talent for keeping nightmares and restless half-waking dread at bay.

How to Use Peridot in Spellwork and Rituals 
The simplest way to work with peridot is to wear it, ideally set in gold to amplify its power, or to carry a tumbled piece as a touchstone for luck and protection.
I also like to place it in the wealth corner of the home or grid it with citrine and pyrite for prosperity. Holding it to my heart in meditation clears away whatever I’ve been clutching. Cleanse it in moonlight or smoke, and give it only brief morning sun, as too much will fade that glorious green.
A Ritual to Draw Abundance and Release Lack
- On a Friday evening, light a green candle and sit with your peridot cupped in both hands.
- Breathe slowly and let the stone warm. Picture the green light spreading from your palms into your chest.
- Name aloud one belief in scarcity you wish to release, then speak the chant three times:
Stone of green and golden light,
clear the lack and set it right.
As I open, so I gain,
abundance grows and free I’ll remain.
- Let the candle burn down safely, then carry the peridot with you until the next full moon.
