I was looking at the dream catcher origin among the Ojibwe people.
If I understand it properly there’s a maternal spider spirit who would visit every cradle to shield infants from illness and dark energy. But the people eventually grew too numerous for her to reach alone, so the women of the tribe started weaving these nets to carry her protective work forward.
The sinew web works like a spider’s web, trapping what’s harmful the same way silk catches dangerous insects. And morning sunlight hitting the net burns away those trapped nightmares, the way dawn dries dew from a web. The dangling feathers were there for tiny hands to reach toward.
Is that how it works and (I guess as a follow on) does a dream catcher work?
